Tips and Ideas For Baby's First Birthday

The first year of your little one calls for a celebration. It is your baby's first birthday, and you want it to be memorable and special not only for your child, but also for the entire family and friends. However, many new parents find planning a first birthday party a bit challenging. For that reason, this article will help you plan your baby's first birthday by just following some useful tips and ideas below.

When and what time? Mostly of children's birthday parties were held on the weekend, and the best time is in the afternoon since most guests are working during weekdays. Hosting it in the afternoon will avoid you from additional hassle of serving a full meal. Cake, ice cream and other finger foods are enough for this type of party. Just make sure to send out party invitations in advance so that important people, especially those who are living out of town can attend.

How to decorate the party? The first thing you will need to consider before buying decorations is the theme of the party. Choose one theme and collect decorations accordingly. To make sure that the party theme will work, you should practice creativity. However, that doesn't mean you have to spend a lot of money for your decorations. Popular decorations during children's birthdays are streamers and balloons. You can also select paper and cardboard posters and other props at your local party shop.

The birthday cake. There is no way of forgetting the birthday cake. This is the party centerpiece, and kids really love it. Therefore, make sure to have a cake that reflects the theme of the party. Additionally, choose party plates, cups and napkins that are matching as well.

How to jazz up the party? Usually, children's parties would include professional or amateur entertainers, that can really make kids laugh and enjoy. Including magic shows and clowns is the best bet for this type of party. However, if you want it to be less expensive, you can have yourself or even friends and family members tell stories or perform some puppet shows. Your creativity and imagination can actually help you when it comes to this part.

How about party favors? Party favors are very important during children's parties. Giving out party favors lets kids go home happy and more importantly, it teaches children how important to say "thank you." Also, party favors commemorates the event, if chosen with care. Usually, party favors given during children's parties are favor bags filled with some goodies and little toys. However, if you really want to impress your guests, you can always purchase party favors according to your theme.

Where to buy children's birthday party supplies? Many parents today opt to shop online, as there are more wider selections of party supplies available online than at local party shops. Also, you can find so many best deals if you shop online, which is a practical shopping option for those who have tight budget. Available online are party supplies including personalized birthday and baby shower favors, baby gifts and gifts for siblings, baby gift baskets, party decorations, invitations, games and etc.

Elmo Birthday Party - The Best Party Supplies

Planning an Elmo themed birthday party for your preschooler? As one of Sesame Street's beloved characters, Elmo is a perfect theme for young toddlers and can help create a fun filled and memorable birthday party. To make your little one's birthday party extra special (and stress free for you!), here are the Elmo birthday party supplies you need!

Elmo Party Invitations - Whether you make your own or purchase premade ones from a party store, the invitations should be sent out two to three weeks prior to the date of the party.

Elmo Birthday Party Kits - It doesn't get much more stress free than an Elmo themed birthday kit. Birthday kits come in a variety of themes and sizes and typically include everything you need to throw a themed birthday party. Depending on the kit you get, this may include tableware, a table cover, party hats, party favors, and more. Elmo birthday party kits can be found at party stores that sell other Elmo birthday supplies.

Elmo Decorations - The color scheme for an Elmo birthday party should be the primary colors of red, blue, and yellow. Use plenty of streamers to line doorways, banners, and windows. Helium balloons attached to balloon weights can be used as a centerpiece or placed throughout the party room. As each guest arrives, transform each one into their furry red friend by giving them an Elmo party hat to wear.

Elmo Party Games - Determine which Elmo party games would be appropriate considering the age of your guests and the amount of space you have. Two to three games and one activity should be more than enough to keep the kids entertained throughout the duration of the party. Consider any game or activity that involves shapes or the alphabet, two of Elmo's favorite things. Have a station where the kids can color pictures of Elmo, play with red play dough, or play with their favorite shapes.

Elmo Themed Food - Since Elmo's favorite food is pizza, it seems only fitting that you should serve this at an Elmo birthday party. Or serve other kid favorites like hot dogs, hamburgers, or chicken nuggets. If you are not feeding the kids an entire meal, snacks like goldfish crackers, Jello jigglers, or chocolate chip cookies will keep them happy. Last but not least, don't forget the Elmo cake or serve vanilla cupcakes with red frosting adorned with mini Elmo figurines. Or create Elmo faces on the cupcakes using white candy wafers and black frosting for the eyes, an orange gumdrop for the nose, and a piece of black licorice whip for the mouth.

Elmo Party Favors - Giving guests party favors as they leave is a great way to show your appreciation and thank them for coming to your party. Goody bags filled with candy and small toys apt for toddlers are inexpensive and kids love them! Go to your local party store and see what Elmo themed items they have that could be put in a goody bag. You will likely find a wide array of Elmo stickers, noisemakers, candy, and other toys. Make sure anything you include is age appropriate.

Care For Chihuahua Dogs - Are You Ready For the Challenge

Care for Chihuahua dogs is something any responsible adult can do. But please prepare to deal with your little pet even before your pup comes home. Your pet is counting on you to do what it takes to provide a safe and happy home. And you can enjoy your pet most if your dog is healthy and happy. What's the best way to start?

1. Feed for health.

The small size of any Chihuahua makes food regulation a key to care for Chihuahua dogs. Teacup Chihuahuas especially are prone to overeat which leads to hypoglycemia and diabetes with the accompanying misery and suffering. Carefully regulate your dog's feed intake. Select a high quality puppy chow for a good start. Feed at certain times of the day and take up uneaten food.

2. Bathe.

Keep your puppy clean with monthly baths. Especially be careful with teacup Chihuahuas, since they are prone to ear problems.

3. Chihuahua Clothing.

Clothes for your puppy aren't just about cute and fashion. The Chihuahua has a thin hair coat, even long hair Chihuahuas. The dogs are not cold weather pets. Make sure your puppy has enough protection in cold weather. Also since the dogs are so light weight, they chill easily and can quickly become sick from chilling.

4. House breaking a Chihuahua.

As soon as your puppy is capable, start house training. Routine and close observation are the keys to success. Take your puppy to the place you want to encourage elimination at the first signs he needs to go. This will certainly be shortly after meal time and after sleeping at night or after naps. If you'll watch closely for just a few days, you should have success. Chihuahuas are harder to train than many breeds, but patience will usually lead to success.

5. Socialization.

Chihuahuas are easily frightened simply because they are so small. Would you be easily scared if you weighed six pounds? If you can in a very comforting way introduce your pet to new experiences, you can quickly have a more secure and less neurotic puppy. Show the pup that there is no need for fear and that you are in control and will protect your pet.

A Chihuahua dog is a great pet for many people. The breed does have some serious care requirements partly just because of the small size of the dogs. Meet the challenge of care for Chihuahuas and you can have a long-lived happy pet that you'll enjoy very much.

Christian Stay at Home Moms - Why Work From Home?

If you asked any Christian Stay at Home Mom if she "worked" from home, undoubtedly her answer would be a resounding, "yes"! Even though she doesn't "bring home a paycheck" by doing dishes, cooking meals, washing clothes, and loving children doesn't mean she doesn't work hard. So should Christian Stay at Home Moms consider doing something extra to bring in an income from home and why would they work from home?

1) Money. Today it is hard for one income families to survive. When the choice is made for mom to stay home, there often comes with that a lot of penny pinching and worry lines. If these moms knew that they could stay home, and help their husbands with the financial burden, many of them would jump at the chance.

2) Flexibility. Moms, whether they work outside or inside the home, wear many different hats. Having a way to earn income that provides a flexible schedule is a must. When a CSAHM starts a new venture to begin to help financially, a benefit to helping financially from home is being able to work around already existing responsibilities.

3) God's Big Plans. Where as being a mom is part of God's plan for any  mom, it doesn't stop there. Each women is unique and God has purposed a unique plan for their life. Moms are more than just diaper changers and laundry washers. Along with taking care of a home and family, moms can also pursue their own God given talents and dreams. Verses 16, 18, and 24 of Proverbs 31 show that God's plan for Christian women exists outside of the home as well.

Why would a Christian stay at home mom work from home? Because there is a need to make an extra income from home while still having the flexibility to be a mom.

If a mom is truly seeking and praying for a way to help out financially from home, then God will lead her to the perfect stay at home job opportunity.

How To Train A Puppy In 3 Easy Steps

Think about how to train a puppy first and foremost if you bring a new puppy into your home. She's not a toy, so don't treat her like one. Make your new puppy welcome. Her new home will have strange sounds and smells, which she will have to get used to. This takes time. Here are my 3 easy steps on how to train a puppy with the least possible hassle.

1. Establish the basics first. Decide on her diet, the brand for dogfood she will have. You may have to change this, but choose carefully and it will probably be alright. Decide on where her bed is going to be. Don't change this location if possible. This is her comfort place, just like your bed is to you, so choose a quiet, peaceful corner that she can feel is hers.

2. Use the same words or short phrases for the same expected results. For example, "go potty" for her toilet, and then always take her to the same spot in the garden, and "here's dinner" for her main daily meal. Repetition in the same tone of voice, followed by the same action, is one of the keys to getting the same result with a young dog.

3. Do not heavily chastise your puppy, or shout at her, regardless of how bad a mess she has made, or how badly chewed the carpet is. Show your displeasure by being cool towards her. Frown and say little without any cuddles. This, coupled with lots of hugs and happy words when she does something right, will usually get the message across to her.

Don't worry about how to train a puppy. It's not rocket science. Just use common sense, and if you're stuck, you can get an expert book guide to help you. There's plenty of excellent ones available. Above all, have fun -- your puppy deserves it!

Budapest Weekend for Uninterrupted Fun

No place can match to Budapest with its splendid and exhilarating nature's beauty, to call enthusiasts from round the world to enjoy Budapest weekends. If you are a man about to take vows and few days are left in hand and you also have a niggling doubt, yet super-excited to get clinched with your beloved at last then Budapest stag parties cannot be missed at any cost.

Get the Fun Rolling on

Such stag parties are usually organized by the groom's nearest and dearest pals so that every bit of the fun stay lingering in mind years after your stag party is over. Stag do's are no longer the chant, since modernization has broken free of all rules and have given men the opportunities to go on exotic location and mingle in events to their heart's delight. However, do not jazz up with some distasteful fun that can be a sore to happy vows.

Tagged as 'Paris of East', Budapest has recently notched up the top most position for being the most exhilarating city with all its enthralling beauties and gleeful sights merged with great fun to make the weekends etched in memories. You can also rely on a very modest budget for a trip round the city and make it more than just stag fun with your dearest buddies.

Budapest holds places of wonders and you should not miss to enrich your experience. Some popular landmarks are Royal palace, Fisherman's Bastian, Matthias church, Parliament created in Gothic style and much more. Do not forget your digital camera to mark the fun to great extent. The funniest part is that any member of stag parties would love to swing and trip, yet cross the amazing span of the Chain Bridge. It is a little scary, but who cares when spirits are high and you are with your best friends. But for your safety you can harness to safety ropes if you want.

The museums are especially for those who want to enjoy every bit of the city, what it is and how it was discovered, the legendary tales of big personalities and myths. You will love what the museum has in store for you. Make all the sight seeing as part of your Budapest stag party spree.

If concretes and bricks are not your target of interests then plunge in night life. It has plenty of fun in store for you. Nights are the best time to hold stag parties. The pubs and clubs spruced up along the roads with vibrant music rocking at ears and beers making their way to your drooling mouths are all to add to the fun. Go out for a hearty meal and do take part in special sports, which are quite famous here. This includes karting, paintballing, rally driving and much more.

After a week's frenzy mood, head to a spa and relax your exhausted bones. It will indeed be the best weekend in Budapest with stag parties to stay intact in memory always.

Tips on Easy House Breaking Your Puppy

If you are lucky enough to get a 7-week-old puppy, there is no excuse for any bad habits to develop over his lifetime. Puppies learn INSTANTLY when they are that young, and if you use the proper training methods, gentle but consistent, he will behave like an angel his whole life through.

The most important training, of course, is housebreaking. Boys are easier than girls because exploring outside is their favorite thing. They just cannot get enough of all the new smells out there!

The main key to housebreaking is watching. Watch your puppy AND the clock. Once every hour is not too often on a day he is active and the weather is good. The younger the pup, the more often he needs to go out, mostly because he is growing so fast. He must drink more water to fuel his metabolism than he does as an adult. Also, since he eats three or four times a day, you know what that means.

Watch him for subtle changes. If he is happily chewing his toy, and gets up suddenly with his nose to the floor, move quickly! He is ready to squat! If he has had a nice nap, get him out of his crate and outside right away. If he has just had a good grooming, it stimulates his circulation and guess what? Time to go out again. And of course after a meal, watch him extra close.

Things to remember:

---Do not punish him for mistakes. They are YOUR fault. Every time you take him out he will go, and praise praise and praise! Happy face, laughter, happy noises! He loves your happy face. When he makes a mistake, your frown and your face turned away from him is all the punishment he needs. He will get the point.

---He is learning English, you must use the same phrases over and over. "Good go potty!" "Hafta go potty?" "Wanna go potty?" He can learn in one afternoon that "go potty" means a jaunt outside and your happy face. Whatever phrase you choose, stick with it.

---I cannot recommend strongly enough getting a crate. They truly help with all phases of his training. They make him more secure, provide him with his very own private space and a place for him to hide his favorite toys and chewies. This is even more important if you have other adult dogs in the house.

---Be consistent, always be kind and gentle, and be patient as he learns your language, and your puppy will always look forward to his training sessions. Dogs love to work!

5 Ways To Have Stronger More Physically Fit Children - They Will be Happier and Healthier

As many of you know, my book "The Barbarian's Guide to Success" talks about not only making more money, but it also talks about having a successful family. Part of a successful family, is having successful children.

I was talking to a Phys. Ed. coach in a public school the other day. He was telling me some amazing things about the children he coaches. Apparently most of the children are in horrible shape. He was telling me that he has children twist their ankles when running on the track on a regular basis. Most have problems with any physical activity.

I heard a story on the news a few months ago that said the Army had to change its workout program in basic training because new recruits were getting stress fractures from the exercise. Now folks, all they do in calisthenics. Push ups and sit ups and jumping jacks. Stress fractures from that!

When I was a child we had to run laps regularly. We played hard, and were embarrassed to ask to go to the nurse. If one of us had to go to the nurse from running on the track we would have never lived it down.

My point is not that children should make fun of each other, but that many of our children are wimps.

I read an article a few years ago about how attitudes toward child rearing are changing. According to the article, fathers traditionally encouraged children to do things that were physical and mothers, traditionally, wanted to protect children from the potential harm that comes with such activity. I know this is not 100% true, as my mother encouraged me to play sports if I wanted to, but the article did say in general. According to the article, fathers are not encouraging their children as much. They are trying to protect the children more, much like what mother traditionally do. The result, kids that do very little or no exercising. Children that complain at the mildest ache or pain. In short, out of shape wimps. I did not believe it, but it seems to be coming true.

Now I know that you don't want your child to be a wimp, so here are a few things to help get them in batter shape:

1.Throw out the video games and turn the "boob tube" off. To many kids are spending to much time in front of the TV.

2.Cook meals and keep tabs on what your child eats. I know it is hard sometimes, but if you don't keep track they will be eating nothing but honey buns and Ho-Ho's. BTW Boston Market's non-fried chicken is as bad or worse than other restaurants. Eating out should be a treat not the norm. Cook a meal and sit down as a family and eat. Your children will be healthier, both physically and mentally.

3. Along the lines of number 2, pack a lunch. School lunches are the worst and most children eat out of a vending machine at school. Take a few minutes and pack a lunch, its worth it. They'll do better in school and be healthier and happier.

4.Teach your younger children to ride their bike and make your older ones play some sports. The older kids don't have to be sports stars, but make them play tennis or swim or SOMETHING.

5. Kick the kids out of the house. Make them go out and play. To many children spend to much time indoors. Too much sun is harmful, but too little is as well, Savvy?!?

So make the kids get stronger. Make them run and play. Forget the video games. If they want to shoot something they can do it with cap guns. (Don't tell me about the teen shooting stories on the news. Every single one of my friends and I played with cap guns and none of us killed someone. The problem with those kids ain't toy guns, it is something way more serious.)

At the end of the day, make them move. They need it.

And with that I will say

Get the Barbarian Mind Set and keep it. Stay trú to yourself and your family, the rest will take care of itself.

Purchasing a Wooden Play Kitchen Set For Your Child

There are many types of play kitchen sets. Some are plastic and may last a couple of years but if you want a good, durable kitchen set a wooden kitchen set will be the best investment for your dollar. In today's economy with many having to pinch the dollar, there are many aspects to look at. Do you want your dollar to purchase a plastic set that will last a short while or a unique wooden play kitchen set that will last for a long time?

There are many styles of wooden play kitchen sets. Some are natural colored and others are brightly colored. Many wooden play kitchen sets consist of a wooden toy cupboard, wooden toy stove, wooden toy refrigerator and even a wooden toy microwave. Some wooden play kitchen sets come already assembled although freight cost more. Other wooden play kitchen sets come unassembled and can become a family project putting it together or maybe a wonderful project for a parent or grandparent to put together and make it extra special knowing that it was "built" by that special someone.

I received a wooden play cupboard when I was 2 years old and remember how much fun I had playing with it. My sister and I played "house" every day and I know my parents were very satisfied knowing that the money they spent on that wooden play cupboard was thoroughly enjoyed. As time passed, I had a daughter and the wooden play cupboard was once again played with. Today it is stored away waiting for my grandchildren and the wooden play cupboard is in excellent condition. I don't believe that a plastic one would last over 40 years and be in excellent condition.

One of my favorite companies is Elves and Angels which is a company that makes wooden toys in Maine. This company has many styles of wooden toy kitchen sets similiar to the one that I had when I was small. This company not only has wooden toy kitchen play sets but they also make a wooden play diaper changing table as well. This will really keep your little one busy carrying for "the family". Some have a integrated hutch with two shelves will be ideal for displaying all the "pretty dishes". Children can bake on the two oven shelves and store items in the cupboard. Made of solid wood with carefully rounded edges your child will enjoy many happy moments cooking and making delicious meals.

Other wooden play kitchen sets are very eye catching. Instead of the bottom part of the wooden toy cupboard having doors it has brightly colored curtains and makes this little kitchen set stand out and look very creative. It also gives the little one plenty of space to the left of the sink for drying dishes or doing any "food prep" that needs to be done.

Some wooden play kitchen sets have the wooden toy cupboard and the wooden play stove and oven combined together. The "sink" is a small stainless steel bowl. With ample space to do cooking, baking and clean up tasks your child will be learning about the real art of cooking.

There are even some ideas that one can use when the child has outgrown playing with it. It makes an ideal place to store crafts, scrapbooking papers or perhaps store your child's little memory projects in it.

There are many toys advertised in today's world trying to grab the attention of parents and children, but sometimes it is the items that aren't advertised that are the best. Toys are toys, but a real toy is one that can be passed on from generation to generation with wonderful stories that can be passed also.

Applehead Chihuahua

The term applehead Chihuahua refers to the shape of a baby Chihuahua's head. The dome of the skull is broader than the jaw, giving rise to the description "applehead". It takes into account that the top of the head has a slight depression. This depression is called a molera (Spanish for fontanel) and corresponds to the "soft spot" on a baby's head. Some Chis have it--some don't.

There was disagreement for a while over whether the presence of a molera on an applehead Chihuahua was a bad thing and should be considered a demerit for lineage assessment. Recently, this has been seen as totally discountable. The presence or absence of a molera has NO bearing on a Chihuahua's pedigree.

On October 30, 1990, the American Kennel Club adopted a set of standards for the Chihuahua as a breed. It did not differ from the prior April 14, 1943, standard. Listed under "Head" is the following description: "A well rounded "apple dome" skull, with or without molera." So although the official description of the applehead Chihuahua is "apple dome", there's no disputing the AKC Official Breed Standard for "Expression": Saucy!

The AKC Breed Standard weight limit for a Chi is 6 pounds. If your young applehead Chihuahua gains too much weight, the "appleheaded-ness" will disappear earlier than through simple aging. As in humans, too much weight puts a strain on all systems, especially the heart. Be nice to your pet and don't feed it huge meals or table scraps.

Additionally, the tiny legs of an applehead Chihuahua cannot easily support gross extra weight. They will develop a condition called slipped stifles, which is an injury of the knee caused by patella fracturing. It can be fixed with an operation, but that is an expense and pain that you do not need to incur. Be sure to get your applehead Chihuahua from a breeder that has carefully checked its breeding stock for inheritable weaknesses. And for sure, don't let your Chi jump down from your arms or other high places. Their joints just cannot take the stress.

You'll keep your applehead Chihuahua healthy for as much of the 15 year lifespan as possible if you limit its food and correctly provide the exercise it--and YOU--demand!

Baby Photo Gifts - Delighting the Infant

Babies love getting gifts. That toothy smile they sport when they are given a new toy says it all about their delight. They are even happier when they get something that is personalized just for them. They feel like they are the true owners of those items. Thankfully, choosing personalized photo gifts for babies is easier than you might think. True, you may need to browse around a bit to make a choice since there are so many options available, but it is worth the trouble to see that happy smile.

Before you purchase a photo gift for a baby, find out the baby's age. Are you buying a gift for a toddler or simply an infant? The choice of gift will depend a lot on this factor. Some great photo gift ideas for babies are given below. Take your pick.

1.Personalized baby blanket/ sleep sack - This is great for newborns and infants. Choose a good baby blanket or sleep sack, and have a photo of the baby printed on it. This will be a great personalized gift for the baby, which he/ she can preserve as a keepsake when he/ she grows up.

2.Baby photo album - This idea may have been done to death already, but still carries with it a charm like nothing else. Look for an album in a cute shape and color. Go for vibrant colors like red, orange, yellow, etc. Put in a photo in the first slot when you gift it (take a candid photo of the baby beforehand). This will add a unique touch to your gift. A good quality baby album will last for years, and is definitely one of the best keepsakes.

3.Personalized baby t-shirts - These are great gifts for any baby, but make sure you know the baby's parents well. Take a photo of the baby, and have it printed on a t-shirt. This will be something that the baby will love to wear, and his/ her parents will love your choice too.

4.Personalized baby feeding bowl - A baby feeding bowl with a photo of the baby printed on it can make a delightful gift. When the baby sees his/ her photo printed on the cup, he/ she might feel a little more enthusiastic about his/ her meals.

Baby photo gifts are pretty easy to choose, especially since there are so many varieties available in the stores. Pick out the perfect baby photo gifts from your favorite online store. This will not only give you access to a huge collection, but will also cut the time and labor required for the shopping.

A Couple Basic Ideas On 1st Birthday Party Supplies

It seems like yesterday that you brought your baby home and how the months have flown by. Now you are getting ready to celebrate her first birthday and if you are honest with yourself, this is more for you than your bouncing baby. In reality, babies don't remember their first birthday, but it is the most important one for parents. This is a day to remember and everything must be perfect, from the 1st birthday party supplies to the birthday cake.

You don't need a theme to have a great birthday, and at this age it is unlikely the baby has a particular favorite anyway. So in choosing how to plan the party, think of something that you like and go with that. The first place to start is with the invitations. Once everything is planned out and you have your guest list ready, get those invitations ready and sent out at least a month in advance.

You'll most likely want to go all out on decorations, so go ahead and don't hold yourself back. A Happy Birthday banner with your child's name will get you started. Plenty of balloons in bright colors, some streamers, and some party hats will bring the festive look to the party. Since this is for babies, stuffed animals, baby toys, and similar items will add to the decor and entertain your guests at the same time.

You'll want to have age appropriate snacks for the little ones as well as something for the adults. Go by the age of the children attending so you buy the right snacks for them, like fun shaped graham crackers, goldfish crackers, and even some dry cereal. For babies, make sure you have some teething biscuits out for them. For adults, decide if you'll be serving snacks or a mini-meal like sandwiches.

The cake is probably the most important part of the party. It is also the most fun part of the party. Use your own personal taste to decide on the shape and decorations but take into consideration how many adults and children will be there for the size. Babies are not going to eat much if any of the cake and small children about a half a piece. Some parents enjoy buying a small cake just for the birthday baby. Her own cake to blow out the candle and then smash into, making a joyful mess.

Games are always a fun part of a party. Taking into consideration the age of the children, it can be a bit difficult to know the right types. Bean bags are created for all ages, the younger ones can enjoy playing with them alone and the older children in playing a bean bag toss. A game of Leader of the Band is great for all ages; parents can hold their babies while everyone follows the leader around the room to music. To calm the kids down when they start to get a bit out of control, a birthday story time would be a good choice; this calms everyone down and brings some quiet time.

Party favors are the best way to end the day and make all the kids feel special. You can get a selection of small things for the child to pick out or acquire your own personalized choices. Bath toys, finger puppets, balls, stuffed animals, and picture books are all popular choices and ones that all kids love.

Planning a party can be a bit overwhelming at first but it can also be a lot of fun. Take into consideration how many guests you'll have, including the ages of the children attending, to help you decide which 1st birthday party supplies will be needed. Then just let your imagination run wild and create a day that you'll remember forever and don't forget to video it for future enjoyment.

McDonalds History

More than 100 billion served, and still counting. Hi, I'm Veronica Hill with California Travel Tips on the site of the original McDonalds Restaurant in San Bernardino. Though Richard and Maurice McDonald opened a popular barbecue joint here in 1940, they soon realized that hamburgers and French fries were a better bet. (The original McDonalds menu included barbecued beef, tamales and baked beans, and all meals were served with a side of French Fries.) McDonalds history was made on Dec. 12, 1948, when Richard and Maurice transformed their barbecue joint into the first McDonalds restaurant, focusing on speed, value and high volume. Back then, a burger would set you back 15 cents. A side of Fries? A dime. And all delivered in about 60 seconds flat, creating America's first "Fast Food." In 1954, the McDonald brothers met milkshake salesman Ray Kroc, who bought the ninth franchise of their restaurant in Des Plaines, Illinois. Business went well, and Kroc bought out the brothers in 1961 for $2.7 million. The oldest surviving McDonalds is located in Downey, California. It was the fourth location, opened on August 18, 1953. Today, travelers along the Route 66 corridor can see where it all started at the McDonald's Museum located on the historic site of the original McDonalds. Opened by Albert Okura in 1998, today, the museum also serves as the main offices for Okura's Juan Pollo restaurant chain. Inside the museum, you can learn about the history of McDonalds while checking out ...

Christmas Tradition - Children's Christmas Pajamas

Each family develops its own unique holiday traditions. Christmas is the one season with some traditions passed on from generation to generation while others are born out of a desire to do something new and meaningful to their family unit. Family traditions make happy Christmas memories for young and old. For many people, the food associated with the event is just as important a memory as the event itself for instance pizza to snack on while trimming the tree.

Whatever you choose, consider making it a tradition each year to enjoy the same snack or meal while making your home festive for the holiday. One of the traditions at our house that has extended to the third generation is our Christmas morning menu always revolves around oyster soup and Christmas bread...before gifts are opened.

New Christmas pajamas is another tradition that evokes good memories and adorable pictures. If gifts are opened Christmas morning, let the children open one gift Christmas Eve - the new Christmas pajamas. Consider having a slumber party while waiting for Santa! Dress everyone in a new pair of Christmas pajamas and play games, sing Christmas carols, or watch Christmas movies during your Christmas Eve festivities.

Another tradition the children (in their holiday pajamas) will enjoy, is making and decorating homemade cookies to leave out for Santa and his reindeer. Package the extras in pretty containers to deliver to friends and family on Christmas day. Children love to "camp out" so consider sleeping in sleeping bags in front of the Christmas tree one night. Munch on snacks, leave the lights on all night, and make a special memory!

There are fabulous fabrics - fleece, velore, flannel and other fabrics available that make wonderful children's Christmas pajamas. You might want to start a new Christmas tradition and take advantage of some spare time during the summer. It's a proud moment when you can check something off your holiday 'to-do list' long before the stress and pressure of the holidays hit and you can look forward to the pictures of the children in their new Christmas pajamas that you made for them.

Twilight Halloween Party Ideas

This dusk on October 31 why not host a Twilight Halloween Party! Ideas are so easy to come up with because Halloween and Twilight Party Ideas are perfect together...just like Edward Cullen and Bella Swan. (Do you know another word for "Dusk"?)

Come this October, with everyone awaiting the release of The Twilight Saga's sequel movie, New Moon...this is going to be a very popular Halloween party theme! There are plenty of great party ideas right in the Stephanie Meyer Book Saga for you to incorporate into your celebration...whatever it is for. This Vampire and Human romance movie and book sensation have created a whole new party theme genre. The characters have become Halloween costumes, the meals in the books and movie have become popular...everything about Twilight from cast to characters and A to Z has taken the unsuspecting Tweens and Teens by storm. A Twilight Storm.

I'm sure, by now, most Tween and Teen aged kids have read at least the first of this four book saga. And if they haven't, I'm sure the Halloween Twilight Party Invitation you make and send them will spark their interest in doing just that. They will have to read the books to find a proper costume for this Costume party you are planning. Make sure to write on the invites that it is a Costume wearing get together...this way most of your guests will be sure to dress up as a Cullen, A Volturi, a Forks native or a Quileute. Maybe you will even have a Cullen car costume or two! Make sure you have a costume contest, with prizes for the most inventive costume, the best costume and the silliest costume. Give the winners a Jelly Apple or a Golden Onion!

If anyone asks for a costume idea you can tell them anyone of the Cullen's, Bella, the Volturi, the Quileutes, Werewolves and just simple, everyday people of Forks are all perfect costume ideas. Eric, Mike, Jessica and Angela went surfing in the movie, so give someone a wet suit and surf board costume idea. The more off the wall a costume is, the funnier and more imaginative it is. Have fun with this great party theme...you have so much material in the four books and the movie to use.

Bella's Apple Party Favor Idea

You can find inexpensive Twilight bookmarks to use as party favors or give each of your party guests a red Jelly Apple, they are easy to make, and are the perfect fruit to use as a focal point of your party.

Twilight Party Decorations

If you can, get a Vampire cardboard stand up decoration of James, or Laurent or Victoria and hide it in a place where it can "startle" your guests. Some place they will go, but won't be expecting a Nomadic, Blood Lusting Vampire to be. You can also take pictures of everyone with the vicious bloodsuckers. Twinkle lights and Twilight books are all you need to decorate. You can use black and red and white party supplies, you know plates, napkins and cups to set up a buffet table. Put some photos of the Cullen Clan around the room to give it a homey feeling...a vampire home that is. Put magazines with pictures of the movie cast around on tables for a little more mood setting.

Since it is Halloween I would also use some of the regular decorating tricks, like some spider webs, bats, witch fingers and eye ball appetizers. Of course, some Jello hands and there is always the skeleton vegetable tray with dip for some gory, but tasty treats!

Halloween and Twilight Party Game Ideas

My favorite game is Twilight trivia. Let's see who knows more than me...I mean You...about this Vampire Romance by Stephanie Meyer. It's fun to play and it's also fun to make up the questions. Get your best friend, who I am sure is also a little Twilight Crazy, to help you out. You can also take those same questions and answers and turn this little trivia game into a Jeopardy game. Make sure to save the really difficult questions for the daily doubles!

Bingo, Quote the Cullen, or Name that Tune...using none other than songs from the Movie Soundtrack. I can name that tune in three notes...How about a fun game of Charades using the names of the songs from the soundtrack or the characters in the books.

Play some music and be sure to include Stephanie Meyer's favorite group, Muse along with Paramore, Linkin Park and of course, Rob Pattinson in the mix. For you classical music lovers, there is always Debussy, one of Edward's favorites.

Party Food Ideas

I love to have parties, but don't want to work too hard in the kitchen...so I order a lot of pizzas...all different kinds. Be sure to include a mushroom pizza in the mix. Blood red icing on your cupcakes or making the cute, but easy to decorate, Vampire Cupcakes is always a good idea at a Vampire themed party. If you are not using the Jelly Apples for a party favor, put some out on the dessert table for those vegetarian vampires who feel like having something red to curb their blood lust. I even saw little edible cupcake images that you can have printed with the Twilight cast or just Bella and Edward. That's a great idea, isn't it!

Serve a blood red punch with an ice cream floater on top of it and you've got the perfect drink for this party. Use glow ice cubes for a freaky effect or freeze water in rubber gloves (tell everyone just in case there is a latex allergy) and let the frozen hands freak your guests out. I love to do stuff like this! It is little touches like this that your guests will remember and make your party Extra Special!

We see vampires in a new, and a less vicious light thanks to Stephanie Meyer and the Vegetarian Cullen Clan, but it is Halloween and what's a Halloween party without at least one Count Dracula? Not everyone will come in a Cullen or Forks native costume, but it will still make for a fun party, no matter who your guests dress as.

If you own the movie DVD you can play it in the background for music and for your guests viewing pleasure. This is a great party theme no matter if it's for a holiday, movie watching or birthday party. Everyone is sure to get into the fun games and delicious food you've prepared for them and make sure to tell everyone...Happy Halloween from Edward and Bella!

5 Ways to Get Your Puppy's Attention and Cut Training Time in Half

One thing that training puppies and raising kids have in common is that if you have their full attention, they will learn the lesson faster and better. Puppies make it easy on you because there is nothing they want more than your happy face pointed in their direction. To teach your puppy fast and easy, here are 5 ways to accomplish this:

1.) Use potty time. Puppies love to go outside. Since you are already rewarding him for fast response outside with loving praise and a happy face, use the excitement to work on another lesson at the same time.

For example, work on his leash breaking. Even if you have a fenced-in yard he should be getting at least some of his housebreaking time on a lead. A dog who is always loose in his yard when he goes will not go on-lead in a strange place. He will hold it so long you think he surely will burst. Of course this stress is not healthy for him, and you never know when you will need to take him out on-lead.

As soon as he is finished his potty and received his happy praise, say, "Wanna work?" in such an excited voice he will happily agree. Spend a few minutes with his heeling and sitting work, depending on where you are in his lessons, and give high praise. It does not have to be a full session, just an added minute or two to reinforce the lessons he is currently working on.

2.) Use meal times. At no point in the day do you have your dog's attention stronger than when he is hungry. Do not tease him with his food, ever, or take toooo long to give him his meal, but you can make a fun game out of a few little lessons before he receives his plate.

For example, since he should already be learning to sit calmly off to the side as his food is being prepared, (also when you are fixing your own), work on a short version that will encourage success. Rather than asking him to sit/stay for the whole long time, reward him with little bites as you go. If he sits for 30 seconds, give him a bite with high praise, release him for a moment, and place him again with a fresh command, only repeating the command when the first one ended in success. Never repeat a command if he fails to obey. In this case, quietly with a stern face, place his body back where you first put it with a light nudge to stress the point that "here is where you are supposed to be."

3.) Use the happy time when you let him out of his crate. You do not want to make too large a fuss when releasing him, just open the door and let him out, but of course it makes him happy and focussed on you anyway. Once he is free and you are loving him up, say, "Wanna work?" and do a little lesson, like sit, or down. Since he is excited only ask for 5 or 10 seconds at most, then praise praise praise! You must train when it is difficult for the dog to do it or he will only behave when he wants to behave, not when he NEEDS to.

4.) Use a new toy. Just like with his food and treats, do not withhold a new toy for longer than 2 minutes or so. Get his attention with it by letting him smell and taste it a little, without releasing it to him. The moment you give him complete control over a chewie or toy is a huge reward for him, so make him earn it. Do a few lessons, like a 1 minute down/stay or any other command that you are already working on. Do not introduce new lessons when the puppy is already excited. Use calm time for that.

5.) Use his regular session time. He loves his on-lead work time with you already, so before and after each work session, work on things that are not actually session work but, say, good doggy manners or just understanding English. For example, get his ball and teach him your call words, like "Fetch" or "Get it!", whatever you choose, make sure you keep using the same words over and over so he will learn them quickly.

Follow these tips in a consistent loving way and your puppy will learn faster than you ever thought possible, and become the best companion he can ever be.

Crate Training - How to Make Sure Your Dog's Crate Will Be His Safe Haven

The first thing to understand about cases that, like a grotto to hear your new puppy. Since the beginning of time, the dogs were living in caves, and are instinctively on his chest that seem, as long as you do not abuse it. This is a place for his contact with the outside of each and escape the kiss. Even if they love the attention, still need a quiet place to rest. It is small and cozy, but most of all it feels safe.

If you and yourFamily want to be able to leave the house without worrying about your new puppy should be quite content to spend time alone in his cage for short periods of time. This is very important because your puppy will grow to be very happy, safe and independent. This also means that you will not see your dog on separation anxiety. "Short Time" are the keywords here. You should never leave a new puppy in a cage all day or learn to hate it.

Whatdo it before the puppy has its own time

Take him to the potty: Be sure to take your dog to potty before you put in a cage for the time alone. You can do a long walk and let him go, even in a dog park, so he gets tired. Remember, puppies are full of energy when I exercise so much, I really enjoy the time alone in his cage. Do not be surprised if you get tired before your puppy.

Make it easy: you can be sure that your puppy will loveif you have a soft blanket and his favorite toy in the crate. Even a good water containers can not be paid. Most of the cases at hand if you buy them. This is the place for your dog, where nobody can disturb him while he is inside. If you have a wire crate (which I personally think are the best kind), you can make a blanket over them to feel even safer for him, if you want. (Do not cover the door)

Gradually introduce your puppyBox

Put it in the box: You can be in one of his favorites is to encourage him to start walking and eating in the box. Gently close the door while you are eating and leave the room without a riot. Come back in a few minutes and let it out. Do this several times a day and gradually extend the time you leave him there. Watch for signs of stress, but never its comfort food or you will show your puppy that is rewarded.

Write hisPuppy Food: Meal times are another good way to build his confidence. Set his food just inside the crate and then gradually place the bowl further back until he finally starts eating from his bowl way in the back of the crate. You can close the door while he's eating and then start to leave it closed for longer periods of time so he'll be comfortable staying in the crate long after his meal.

What to Avoid

Don't Leave Them in the Crate Too Long: An hour is the absolute longest time you should leave your new puppy in the crate. He won't be able to hold his bladder for too much longer than that. The last thing you want is for him to go potty in his crate, but the worst thing that could happen is his bladder getting damaged from holding it too long.

Have a Neighbor Check on Him: If you work and need to have the puppy in a crate, you will need to have a neighbor or friend come over to help you. They can take him out and play with him, plus he can go potty outside. Another alternative is to put the crate in a small safe room and just leave the crate door open. Buy some puppy pads that you can train him to go on when you are not at home for long periods of time. These are great! They have a certain smell that will attract your pup to potty on them...saving your floor or carpet. Make sure he has plenty of water and toys to play with.

The Buzz: No added blessed meals?

Are the toys in your child's Happy Meal making him fat? The Center for Science in the Public Interest says they are. The Washington-based consumer advocacy group threatened to file a lawsuit against McDonald's Tuesday, charging that the fast food chain "unfairly and deceptively" markets the toys to children.
